The Learn to Row Instructor workshop is part of the new NCCP and has been developed to improve the instruction to new participants to the sport of rowing. The workshop is held over 1.5 days (or 12 hours) depending on how the workshop is structured. The workshop includes training in new NCCP outcomes – plan a practice, analyze performance, support to athletes in training and make ethical decisions.
Each instructor will have the opportunity to instruct beginning rowers on how to carry equipment, how to row at dockside and in some situations, may even take a novice crew on the water under supervision. In order to obtain the “trained” status in the NCCP database, the instructor must attend the entire workshop.
Learn to Row
This program was developed based on the Journey123 Learn to Row (LTR) material. It is expected that by improving the skills of the LTR instructors there will be an increase in retention of LTR members in recreational or competitive rowing programs.
