Getting started in the RCA Performance Coach (Competition Development) Context

The Level 3 technical will continue to be offered in conjunction with the 2010 RCA Coaches Conference. At that time, more information will be available about changes in the program.

But for now…..

There are six multi-sport modules plus a number of rowing specific modules that will be offered as part of the training. As we work our way through the preparation of the new curriculum, coaches can get started on their course work.

Two of these modules are being adapted for rowing and will be offered in a rowing-specific environment.

  • Developing Athletic Abilities for Rowing (ready for delivery Fall 2010)
-This is being piloted in December 2009 in Vancouver
-The second pilot may be run in February 2010 in Ontario
  • Prevention and Recovery  (piloted Fall 2010)

The other four modules are being delivered now and coaches can take these through their provincial coaching organization in a multi-sport environment.

  • Leading and Coaching Effectively (1.5 days),
  • Managing Conflict (4 hours)
  • Leading Drug Free Sport (3.5 hours)
  • Performance Psychology (7 hours)

These modules are also available by home study in the following provinces:

  • New Brunswick
  • Quebec
  • Ontario
  • Manitoba
  • Alberta
  • British Columbia

Coaches should contact their provincial coaching representative. Contact numbers are available at: http://www.coach.ca/eng/links/ptcc.cfm
