Rec News - Don Rowing Club

The Don Rowing Club team was put together at the very last moment as the event was suppose to take place a day earlier but the weather didn't cooperate. This crew, made up of a mixed comp, masters and rec, had never rowed together as a team.

The Mississagua-based club has doubled the size of its recreational program this year. By combining great coaching and fun events, they have attracted many new members.

The rec group has also created the Don Rowing Club Recreational Global Challenge. Virtual sprint races with other recs around the world. The races take place at the exact same time and are started via cell phones between the coaches. Videos of both sides of the race are then posted on YouTube. This fun challenge is all about recs connecting with other recs around the world.

The first race took place on June 6th and featured the Don Rowing Club of Mississauga versus the Miami Rowing Club of Miami, Florida.

Future race will feature the Don versus clubs in Germany, Australia, US and Canada.
