Established in memory of Thomas Keller, President of FISA for many years, by his friends particularly those at the Hanlan Boat Club of Toronto.

TONY ZASADA AWARD - PRIX TONY ZASADA

Established by the family and friends of Tony Zasada of the Regina Rowing Club. Tony was fifth in the coxed pair event at the 1984 Olympic Games and was killed in a car accident shortly afterwards.

Junior Male Sculler of the Year - Rameur en couple junior de l'année

Jack Guest of the Don Rowing Club won the Diamond sculls at the 1930 Henley Royal Regatta and a silver medal at the 1928 Olympic Games in partnership with Joe Wright Jr.

SCULLERS AND SWEEP CREWS OF THE YEAR - RAMEURS EN COUPLE ET EQUIPAGES EN AVIRON DE POINTE DE L'ANNÉE

Because there was no Canada Cup, but there was a Canada Games, senior athletes young enough to participate in the Canada Games had a significant advantage under our awards system over older athletes who did not have the opportunity to compete in the Canada Cup. Accordingly the Awards Committee decided that, where this appeared to result in an inequity, to make a joint award.

Named in memory of John Anderson, who was Vice-President Marketing of Rowing Canada Aviron when killed in a car accident in January 2005.

CENTENNIAL MEDAL - MÉDAILLES DU CENTENAIRE

Established in 1980 to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Rowing Canada Aviron, the medal is awarded to those who have contributed outstanding service to Canadian rowing, including those who win their first gold medal at the Olympic Games or World Championships.

LONG SERVICE AWARDS - MÉDAILLES DE LONG SERVICE

25 years/ans

  • Adrian Miller, St. John's Rowing Club.

Adrian began his involvement with rowing with the famous fixed seat rowers in Newfoundland and moved to sliding seat rowing in the mid 1980s. Adrian is the long time president of Rowing Newfoundland and is the longest serving member of the RCA Board.

  • Kathleen Hutchins, Maple Bay Rowing Club.

Kathleen is a signatory on the charter of the Maple Bay Rowing Club, with over 30 years of involvement. Kathleen has taken the lead in organizing-every year- the popular Maple Bay Rowing Regatta, held on Quamichan Lake.

  • Andrew Hutchins, Maple Bay Rowing Club.

Andy has been involved in the club since its inception. In addition to being an active rower in the early days, Andy was a juniors coach, He remains active in supporting the club regatta every year and in administrative functions. He is a Past President of the club.

  • Jane Phillips. Maple Bay Rowing Club.

Jane is a signatory on the charter of the Maple Bay Rowing Club, with over 30 years of involvement. Although a non-rower, Jane became an umpire years ago and officiates at many regattas every year.

  • Karol Sauvé, Club d'aviron de Montréal.

Karol has been involved in coaching since the mid 1970s and coached several outstanding athletes who went on to represent Canada at the Olympic Games and FISA World Championships. He went on to coach at the national team level until the early 1990's. He has continued to be active in the rowing community as Master Course Conductor for the province of Québec.

  • Marie-Claude Gaudet, Club d'aviron de Boucherville.

Marie-Claude has been active since the mid 1970s, was a member of the National team and has been active in the rowing community as a club administrator, as a licensed Umpire and as member of various RCA committees.

  • Tom Gavaghan, Maple Bay Rowing Club.

Tom, a former rower, supports the club in volunteer work and in transporting club boats to regattas. Tom has also been an umpire for many years and continues to officiate at regattas in British Columbia.

  • Linda Milne. Maple Bay Rowing Club.

Linda has been active with the club for 20 years. She has been on the club executive for more than 6 years, is the club's safety officer and is a strong volunteer coach for both learn-to-row and the junior programs. Linda became an umpire several years ago and volunteers at many regattas every year.
