Canada’s top rowers vying for team selection at Fanshawe Lake

Rowing Canada Aviron and The London Rowing Society will welcome over 200 athletes from over 50 clubs to Fanshawe Lake this weekend. The 2018 Speed Order - National Team Selection Trials kicks off on Friday with finals taking place on Sunday morning.  

Canada’s best rowers targeted for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Parlaympic Games and the Next Generation (NextGen) of Olympic and Paralympic team members hit the water for heats tomorrow including World Cup 1 Gold medalist in the Women’s Pair of Caileigh Filmer and Hillary Janssens and Lightweight Women’s Single Sculls, Silver medalist Ellen Gleadow.

Speed Orders is a compulsory small boat trials event open to all rowers interested in seeking selection to a 2018 Canadian National Rowing Team. Successful athletes will be invited into a 4-day selection camp from June 23rd- 28th, 2018.

Selection camp results will affirm athletes/crews for the following 2018 National Team events: World Rowing Cup 3, World Rowing Under 23 Championships, World University Rowing Championships, and U21 Trans Tasman Regatta.

Junior rowers will complete their selection from June 26th to 30th in London, Ontario for the following 2018 Events: World Rowing Junior Championships and CanAmMex Championships. RCA will announce team selections during the first week of July.

Team selection for the 2018 World Rowing Championships will be affirmed from the pool of athletes selected to the World Cup 3 team, high performing U23 World Rowing Championship members and those invited to train within the National Training Centres throughout the summer (June-September). Final selections for the 2018 World Rowing Championships will take place in Victoria, BC in early August.
