Canadian Umpires selected for 2018 World Rowing Events

HomeNews EventsNews

Umpires are the team behind the team working tirelessly to maintain fairness and safety during each and every regatta.  Highly trained umpires are the backbone to a well organized, athlete centric regatta.

Canada is fortunate to have so many outstanding umpires delivering high quality events at the club, provincial, national and international level.

At the international level, FISA selects a jury of eighteen to twenty umpires per event.  In 2018, the RCA FISA subcommittee nominated ten highly qualified Canadian umpires for consideration. With approximately 250 nominations received worldwide, FISA selected four exceptional Canadian umpires for World Rowing events in 2018.

“Canadian umpires are well respected on the international stage for the quality of their work. We are extremely proud to have these umpires selected to represent Canada on the international stage.” says Tom Blacquiere, Chair of the RCA Umpires Committee.
