Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) announced today that Peter Cookson is taking on the role of Director of Sport and Pathway Development. This role will see Cookson focus his attention on the Athlete, Coach and Competition Development Pathways and growing the next generation of coaching and rowing talent for Canada.
“I am excited to be taking on this new role with RCA,” said Cookson. “This is an opportunity to further stimulate the development and support of athletes and coaches in Canada. Canadian rowing has a strong community of clubs, schools and universities, and through this role, we plan to further strengthen the important role they play in the success of Canadian rowing, both internationally and domestically.”
“We’re delighted that Peter has taken up this opportunity,” said Donna Atkinson, Chief Executive Officer. “With a long resume at both the domestic and international level, Peter will share his extensive experience and knowledge with the Canadian rowing community, supporting the growth of our future generation of coaches and rowers.”
Cookson has worked with RCA for seven years, leaving the role of Director of High Performance. RCA will immediately begin its search process for a new Director of High Performance. In the interim, Adam Parfitt, Olympian and current Director of High Performance Operations, will serve in this role.
